Feedback and suggestions

We'd love to hear your feedback on Vegerator! Let us know what you like or (more importantly) what you don't like or find difficult to use about the site. Or maybe you have a cool suggestion we should implement for the next iteration or update.

You can let us know in this forum post or shoot us an email by heading over to the About page.

Thanks and welcome!

Hey Dan! This is really great site, we're excited to see how helpful it'll be when loads of people sign up for it. I think one thing that would be really helpful is a sort of tagging system, where you could differentiate between vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, soy-free, etc. for people who don't want to see recipes that don't match up with their allergy/preference.

Fabulous fun website! I hope it grows and grows.

How about a drinks and smoothies section? I recently found a great recipe for a cold/hot vegan chai latte drink. It was amazing!

We use our Vitamix for at home frozen coffee drinks, green smoothies, fruit smoothies, sorbet, ice cream, protein drinks & well, whatever else we can blend in that thing. But the recipes would work well for anyone who has a juicer, smoothie blender, Vitamix, Ninja, Blendtec or any other food processor.

Just a thought.

PsychicVeggie, thanks for the kind words! Currently, "Drinks" is an option under the course menu. We've recently tossed around the idea of allowing users to select multiple options for course/cuisine when adding a recipe. So, for instance, your daiquiri recipe could be listed under both "Drinks" and "Desserts".

Thanks for the recipes! Looking forward to trying out the spicy cauliflower dip!

Uh, Yeah. I guess I need to be smarter than my computer. After I posted that I saw the 'drinks' section. Feeling a little stupid now. But, I posted a couple of drinks just to get it started. :)

Oh, and the spicy cauliflower dip rocks! I love it because my non-veggiesaur friends don't even know it's vegetarian.

I know this is a recipe site but I know there are those out there who have all kinds of excues for not only going veg, but simply cooking fresh.

I hear...

It's not convenient I can't shop for fresh ingredients that often So much goes to waste if I buy in bulk. I like to have things easy to heat and eat I don't have time to cook from scratch

The list of pathetic excuses goes on and on.

So what about a helfpul hints section? Things that make going veg easy, fast, convenient and maybe even money saving?

For example, right now, even as I type I am utilizing a bag of potatoes that I almost forogt about. I needed to use up the whole bag immediately before they went off but the thought of 5 pounds of potential potato salad just didn't seem worth it to me. So here's what I did...

I roasted some in olive oil & mushroom soup mix for dinner tonight. Simple and totally YUM!

I am boiling some which, when cooled I will put in a feeezer bag and freeze. Then when I want mashed potatoes I will just pull out the chunks of cooked potato, defrost them in a pan with some milk & butter and mash away! Half the time, all of the taste.

The baked spuds will be similar. Once cooled, I'll cube them up and freeze them. Then when I need some potatoes to fry, up as in today's Bubble n' Squeak or even home fries, they'll be ready and it will just take a minue to saute' them up.

No waste, no excuses, & money saved by buying the larger bag of spuds.

Just a thought.

I think it would be nice if there was an option to immediately distinguish vegetarian from vegan recipes, or maybe have an option of things to exclude in the reverse search.

Thanks for the suggestions! We're working on an option to filter recipes by the following criteria: vegan, egg-free, dairy-free, soy-free, & gluten-free. The filter will be available while searching by ingredient and on the Browse page.

A few other updates are in the works and will be online early March. But please keep those suggestions coming! Thanks for the support.

I love posting on Vegerator. I hope you guys keep it up. Anytime someone on my facebook page asks me for the recipe I tell them to go to Vegerator.com. and look it up. The post it to facebook function is awesome!

Thanks for the great feedback!

As an update to Zachary's post above, we're still working on the filter options, but we do have some exciting new features that were just pushed live.

Multiple photos - Users can now contribute photos to recipes that aren't their own. Now anyone can upload a picture of any recipe to show everyone how good it looks! Each photo is credited to the user who uploaded the picture, and if there's more than one you can scroll through and see all the pictures. To add your own picture just click the "Add your photo" button under the recipe image. Check out this great Daquiri recipe to see it in action: http://www.vegerator.com/recipe.cfm?ID=93

Ingredients updates - Ever wanted an easy way to search for ingredients in an easy click? Now if you're on a recipe page you can simply click on the ingredients to search for other recipes using that particular ingredient. It's a quick and easy way to find recipes using similar ingredients. No need to go back to the home page and fill out the search form again!

So glad you guys made this! I had a similar idea a long time ago when I made this blog: http://easygreens.wordpress.com/

One suggestion would be to add level of difficulty? Or cooking skills? Just a thought. Would be nice to see more recipes. I was also a little shocked that "Asian" is one big category.
